Sri Lakshmi Narayan Kovil is one of the numerous, majestic overwhelming temples in Sri Lanka. It is built in the 6th-milepost of the Nilaveli area. While passing the Sambaltivu old junction, one can witness the magnificent view of this temple. One of the most significant Hindu temples for Lord Vishnu, in Sri Lanka. This temple was dedicated to the supreme preserver Lord Vishnu, of Hinduism.

This temple is of massive aesthetic mingling, painted in sky blue and sparkling gold-painted inside and outside. An individual built it called Mr. Radhakrishnan and his family. It was built in a vast land area with a flag pole, clock tower and stood magnificent in its architecture and craftsmanship. It is a Vaishnava temple similar to those in South India. It is situated on 24,600 square feet of land. The construction was started on 12th September 2007 and completed on 31st August 2011, followed by the Kumbabishekam, which is the grand opening ritual of any temple after construction or renovation

The temple's central shrine or inner chamber, called Garbhagiraha or the womb chamber, housed the image or idol of the deity. Outside, beautifully painted and sculptured with paintings of Gods and Goddess. Closer to the shrine stands a statue of Lord Vishnu depicted as reclining on the coiled and multi headed snake, symbolizing calmness and patience in the face of fear and apprehensions the poisonous snake represents.

The villagers believe that the husband and wife's unity will remain when prayed together in this temple, and the separated couples will reunite when prayed in this temple. It is also believed that unmarried women get married when they worship the "Hanuman" deity in this temple. When devotees bring forth their request, and when it is fulfilled, they offer Betel leaf garland or a garland made of Vade to God Vishnu,  at this temple.

This temple has been made with the craftsman's artistry brought down, especially from India. As a custom, men cannot wear tops inside the temple premises because it's believed all spiritual energy comes into the body and strengthens the souls. One can experience the serenity of this temple when entering into it.
